As leader of today's Christian, Universal Life Church one of my primary duties is to restore our Churches good name. Our Churches origin dates back to the 2nd Century, not to 1962 as stated by the self-proclaimed Modesto Messiah, Kirby Hensley. Hensley started "LIFE CHURCH" not the "UNIVERSAL LIFE CHURCH" in 1959 from his garage, Hensley only incorporated in 1962 using our Universal Life Church name. The word Universal comes from the Greek Language and means Christian or Catholic. It is the name of what was perceived to be the first Christian Church with an origin of within the 2nd Century, long before this villified, anti Christian, self proclaimed Messiah ever walked the face of the earth.
